🗺️ Wartales Region Guide — Six Base Regions and Suggested Progression
Covers the six base regions—Tiltren, Arthes, Vertruse, Ludern, Grinmeer and Drombach—and the Pirates of Belerion DLC archipelago. Explains Region-locked level ranges, a suggested route and exploration-mode differences.
This is an open world, so you can change the route. Compare each region’s difficulty with your party’s current strength.
The starting county, where the first contracts and recruitment opportunities are concentrated. It introduces combat, camping and professions.
A standard destination after Tiltren. Its enemy levels are similar to Vertruse, so you can move between them as contracts and quests lead you.
A region with similar enemy levels to Arthes, so changing their order causes little trouble. Refine the early party while improving equipment and finances.
A mid-game region with enemies around level 7. The hunt for the local beast drives its story, and inadequate preparation can sharply increase combat losses.
A later region with enemies at levels 8–10. It contains Gosenberg, a large city that serves as a base for contracts and exploration.
The highest enemy-level region on the base map, at levels 11–12. It tests the party, specializations and profession bonuses developed along the way.
A pirate-themed archipelago added by the paid Pirates of Belerion DLC. The Pugilist class is included in the same expansion.
Which region should I start in?
Start in **Tiltren County**. In Region-locked mode, its level 1–3 enemies introduce contracts, recruitment, camp and professions. Establish those basics before moving to the next region.
What is the difference between Region-locked and Adaptive exploration?
**Region-locked** fixes enemy levels by region, making route planning meaningful. **Adaptive** scales enemy levels to your troop, keeping difficulty broadly comparable across different routes. Adaptive is an approachable first-run choice because level gaps are less likely to block progress.
What order should I explore the regions in?
A usual Region-locked route is **Tiltren (levels 1–3) → Arthes / Vertruse (levels 4–6, either order) → Ludern (around level 7) → Grinmeer (levels 8–10) → Drombach (levels 11–12)**. Arthes and Vertruse are similar in difficulty, so move between them as contracts lead you.
When should I tackle the DLC region?
The **Belerion Archipelago**, added by the paid Pirates of Belerion DLC, is pirate-themed content separate from the base-game regions. The same DLC includes the Pugilist. Establishing the main troop and its management first makes the additional systems easier to absorb.
