Sable Early-Game Guide: Preparing to Leave and Finding the Three Bike Parts
Edition: PC (Steam) version. Early Ewer quest and character names use their English labels for cross-checking. Sources checked: October 14, 2026. Not independently retested through gameplay.
Prepare your gliding ability and assemble your own bike before setting out. Show Hilal the activated Gliding Stone, then visit Sizo in the tower. The three Ships of Old items take you west, south, and east; bring them back to Sizo at Ibex Camp afterward.
Ibex Camp: quest givers and preparations
Start with The Ceremony and check the available quests. The table gives an order for checking preparations; it does not mean every quest must be completed in the order accepted.
| Quest | Quest giver and location | Preparations to check and who to return to |
|---|---|---|
| The Ceremony | Jadi/Ibex Camp | Speak to Jadi first. Prepare the Compass and your departure clothes, returning to Jadi if progress stalls |
| Whispering Stones | Hilal/Ibex Camp | Hilal gives you the Gliding Stone. If you have not prepared the gliding ability, check this quest separately from the search for bike parts |
| Slicing Sands | Driss/Ibex Camp | Track this as a quest from Driss. If reporting to someone else does not advance it, check the quest giver in the quest list |
| Ships of Old | Machinist Sizo/Ibex Camp | The quest to prepare your bike. Sizo also gives you The Navigator. Check how many required items you currently hold in the quest list before returning |
| Purveyor and Surveyor | Cartographer Jourdan/Ibex Camp | Check where to buy the regional map. Maps are purchased from each region's Cartographer, separately from bike repair rewards |
| The Gliding | Begins during The Ceremony | Once preparations are complete, check the unfinished departure objectives. You do not need to finish every optional collectible before leaving |
Use the tools you have to decide who to return to
| Item to check | Source or condition | How to use it next |
|---|---|---|
| Compass | Jadi at Ibex Camp | Check your heading and use it as a reference when you lose track of your destination |
| Gliding Stone | Hilal at Ibex Camp | Check preparations for the gliding ability used when traveling from high places |
| The Navigator | Sizo at Ibex Camp | Mark visible targets so you do not lose track of the three directions to explore. |
| Ewer Map | The region's Cartographer | Bring enough money to buy it. When entering another region, find the person who sells that region's map |
| Gliding Bike | Obtained through Ships of Old | Use it for long-distance travel. If your bike is unfinished, return to Sizo's quest |
Ships of Old: landmarks and actions for collecting the three parts
After showing Hilal the activated stone, obtain the quest and Navigator from Sizo in the camp tower. Mark the three indicated directions with the Navigator before leaving. The table gives one possible collection route; the parts need not be collected in the listed order.
- Once you have all three, return to Sizo in the Ibex Camp tower and talk to advance to attaching the parts to the frame. Do not treat collecting them as quest completion; check that the bike is assembled.
| Required item | Where to look and what to do | What to check if you cannot collect it |
|---|---|---|
| Atomic Calibrator | Listen to the recording in the small western wreck, then speak to Saima outside. Ask Jadi about the hiding place, then enter the cave below camp and crouch through the leaves to collect it. | Do not keep looking for a part left inside the ship. Two large boulders near Driss's workshop mark the cave entrance. |
| Atomic Power Supply | Go to the tall rock south of camp. Climb from the low ledges behind it, following the green plants and spiral stairs. Glide across and search inside the large pipe near the glowing red cables. | Go around behind the rock instead of repeatedly trying to climb straight toward the visible ship. Come with gliding available. |
| Atomic Control Panel | Climb the ladder inside the old dam to the east and use the upper console to open the way. Glide to the wreck and place the red battery in its socket. Inside the opened ship, go left, then left again, and collect the part in the yellow passage. | The dam console is separate from the Control Panel you take back. Check the battery outside if the ship's door is closed. |
- If you do not have all the parts, compare the names you collected with the active Ships of Old quest and check whether you have reported back to Sizo.
A practical loop for checking departure preparations
- Speak to Jadi at Ibex Camp and read The Ceremony's current objective. Check whether you have the Compass and whether you have reached the stage of receiving your departure clothes.
- If your gliding preparations are incomplete, visit Hilal and check Whispering Stones. Do not confuse Sizo, the bike machinist, with Hilal, who handles the Gliding Stone.
- After accepting Ships of Old from Sizo, track that quest. Do not assume items from another optional quest can replace its specified requirements.
- If collecting parts does not finish the bike, bring them back and talk to Sizo. Check item acquisition separately from reporting the quest.
- Check Jourdan's map, then return to The Gliding's remaining objectives when ready. Checking the map, bike, and gliding separately helps identify what is missing.
Diagnosing problems with climbing or long-distance travel
| Situation | First check | Action to try |
|---|---|---|
| You run out of stamina halfway up a tall wall | Is there a surface you can stand on partway up? | Drop onto a ledge to recover and look for resting points as well as checking the wall's height |
| You cannot reach your destination from high ground | Gliding Stone preparations and the gliding input | Use gliding to cover horizontal distance, separately from climbing to gain height |
| Crossing the wide desert takes too long | Ships of Old progress and whether the bike is finished | Visit Sizo if it is unfinished. Once finished, ride near ruins or settlements before exploring on foot |
| Collecting eggs does not increase stamina | Have you reported back to Queen Chum? | Deliver them to Queen Chum in the Chum Lair to advance Building a Queendom |
Progress after departure: eggs and badges serve different roles
| Item to collect | Required action or recipient | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Chum Egg | Deliver them to Queen Chum in the Chum Lair to advance Building a Queendom | Stamina upgrades from Queen Chum Tears. Simply picking up eggs does not immediately increase stamina |
| 100 Chum Eggs | Speak to Queen Chum | Chum Mask. This has a separate requirement from the usual exchange of three profession badges |
| Three Badges of the same type | Bring them to a Mask Caster | The corresponding Mask. One badge each from three different types does not meet the same exchange requirement |
| Machinist Badge | Complete a corresponding quest, such as Ships of Old | One of the machinist-type badges. A single badge does not complete the mask exchange |
Scope covered here and areas for future expansion
- This early-game page helps you check Ibex Camp quests, tools, and who to return to. It is not a complete guide to every quest, ruin, or collectible.
- Routes for the three early bike parts have been added. Full regional ruin coverage, individual egg locations, cumulative totals for each stamina upgrade, and version-specific bug workarounds still need further checking.
- Rather than filling in unconfirmed part placements or fixed control keys, this page limits its advice to checking the on-screen quest list and your key bindings.
Frequently asked questions
