Reporting to Kairi marks your progress on the islands
Accept Kairi's request, gather the materials, and report back. The next day, after racing Riku, Kairi asks you to gather provisions.
Day 1: two logs, one large cloth, and one rope
There is one log on the beach and another on the small island where Riku is. The rope is on the raised area where Tidus is, and the large cloth is inside the hut reached by a ladder.
Once you have everything, report to Kairi and choose to go home. Sparring with your friends is optional. Save at the save point inside the hut.
Day 2: gather provisions after the race
Speak to Kairi to receive a container. The provisions are three mushrooms, two coconuts, three fish, one seagull egg, and drinking water.
Three mushrooms
Search near the tower in the cove, the hole blocked by a rock, and the Secret Place on the beach side. Push the rock at the hole's entrance from the side to move it.
The seagull egg and coconuts
The egg is up a tree near the beach hut. Climb the thin tree beside it and jump across. For coconuts, attack the thick trees and collect two fruits that you can pick up.
Fish and drinking water
Look for three fish in the sea by the beach. After receiving the container, approach the stream beneath the cove's bridge to collect drinking water.
Once you have all the provisions
Return to Kairi and continue the conversation. If progression does not trigger, check the quantities of provisions needed in multiples and the drinking water.
At night, go to Riku while your attacks are ineffective
The wooden sword does not work on the enemies at night. Obtain the Keyblade on the small island where Riku is, then head to the entrance of the Secret Place.
Darkside battle
Target its arms, attacking repeatedly when a hand is low enough. Defeating it ends the island portion.
