Check your route and settings before setting out
Fates asks you to choose a path at the start of Chapter 6. First check whether your standard physical edition is Byakuya Oukoku (Birthright) or Anya Oukoku (Conquest), and which additional scenarios you own. The Japanese scenario name for the Valla route, Revelation, is Invisible Kingdom. Even if the story presents three choices, you may not be able to use them all. The service for purchasing additional scenarios you do not own has ended.
This article reviews the shared opening on Normal. In Casual, fallen allies return for the next chapter; in Classic, losses remain. Phoenix is exclusive to Normal. In-battle saving also differs: Casual and Phoenix allow free saves, while Classic uses a suspend bookmark. Make chapter-by-chapter saves instead of relying only on a bookmark for resuming play.
Learn Dragon Veins and terrain in Chapters 2–4
The Chapter 2 Dragon Vein turns rubble into healing tiles. If HP is low, recover before taking the next enemy attack. In Chapter 3, a Dragon Vein creates a bridge, and in Chapter 4 it can turn mountains into plains. Whenever a path opens, recheck where enemies can reach, too. Decide where units can safely wait before advancing instead of rushing everyone forward after activating a Dragon Vein.
Attack Stance lets an adjacent ally follow up an attack; Guard Stance combines two units to strengthen the lead. Guard Stance is an option when you want to prevent enemy Attack Stance follow-ups. When you need more actions to finish enemies, moving separately may be better. Choose based on the attacks you will face next enemy phase, instead of always using the same arrangement.
Collect and organize items in Chapter 4
Visit the village in Chapter 4 for a Goddess Icon, and have Corrin talk to Hinoka for a Concoction. A Dragon Vein can open the path to Hinoka and the others, but avoid stranding the visiting unit where enemies gather. When you receive an item, immediately check who is carrying it.
If you plan to take a route other than Birthright, giving the Goddess Icon to Corrin before the branch is a cautious choice. Not everyone who participates in the shared chapters necessarily stays with you on your chosen route. Even if you have not decided who will use it, organize inventories so you can keep it first. You do not have to use it up here.
Check Wyrmslayers and Sing in Chapter 5
Corrin fights in dragon form in Chapter 5. Despite that strength, avoid entering a cluster of enemies; first find anyone carrying a Wyrmslayer. This weapon is effective against dragons, so you cannot take its attacks as though it were an ordinary sword. Inspect the equipment, then choose whether to defeat the wielder in your phase or wait outside its range.
Azura's Sing lets an adjacent ally who has already acted move again. One option is to attack once with Corrin, sing, and then handle another enemy. However, Azura cannot sing if you send Corrin too far ahead first. Before attacking, check together whether Azura can reach an adjacent square, where Corrin will stop after acting again, and whether enemies can reach Azura.
Judge whether you can land a finishing blow using current stats and the combat forecast. Leave some allies available to handle a miss instead of moving everyone else first. Plan the order of healing and singing, and end the turn only after both reducing the enemy force and protecting your allies.
Final checks before the branch
Check inventories, including the Goddess Icon, your save slot, and available routes before Chapter 6. Allies and maps differ afterward in Birthright, Conquest, and Revelation, so do not choose guides solely by chapter number after the branch. Consult Nintendo's current guidance on redownloading purchased data and distinguish it from old explanations that say you can make new purchases.
