Guardian Heroes Guides
A Sega Saturn classic developed by Treasure. It combines a side-scrolling beat 'em up with movement between 3 lanes, level-based growth, a branching story, and versus battles for up to 6 players. It is highly regarded for its chaotic battles alongside the Undead Hero and its polished execution.
English translation of the existing Japanese guide. Japanese-release names and mechanics are retained; this is not a new gameplay verification or a claim of complete coverage.

🗺️ Navigate the branching story and explore new routes
The story begins with Han and his companions gaining the power of the Undead Warrior, then develops into a conflict involving the kingdom and the Black Knights. Choices appear at the end of many stages, and your chosen direction changes the next location and opponent. On your first run, follow the story naturally and remember roughly which choices led to which developments. The route branches rather than following a single line, so choosing one direction means you cannot visit the other in that same run.

The field is divided into 3 lanes—back, middle, and front—and you can switch between them with the L, R, and Y buttons. Movement itself drives offense and defense: leave a crowded lane to reduce incoming damage, or position yourself to sandwich an enemy and attack safely. Simply changing lanes also avoids many ranged projectiles. Always consider which lane is safe.

There are 6 abilities to develop: strength (attack power and knockback), vitality (HP), intelligence (magic power), mental strength (MP and its recovery), agility (movement and attack speed), and luck (chance-based offensive and defensive benefits). Allocate points to suit your tactics, emphasizing strength and vitality for physical combat or intelligence and mental strength for magic. Agility improves the overall pace of actions, making it useful for most styles. Choose your direction and distribute points at each level-up opportunity.
