🦀 Opening decisions and Affinities

Consider Imposing for a durable start

Imposing offers health and Plating choices to inspect while learning. Water and Lightning were incorrect Affinity names in the old draft, and their claimed defensive or chain-attack roles were not verified. No starting direction guarantees a clear.

Choose a coherent main direction

A main direction helps you decide which effects are useful. Add support when it addresses a weakness. The old absolute rule that two or three Affinities ruin a build, and its fixed weighting trigger, have not been verified.

Check attack reach early

Inspect your available attacks and their range before a boss. Tentacle Slap and Long Tongue were unverified legacy move names, and no one named move is established here as compulsory. Develop reach alongside the rest of the build when it addresses a real problem.

🧬 Choosing an evolution direction

Compare an evolution’s fit as well as its rarity

A Common choice may help more than a rarer unrelated effect, depending on the build. A matching Affinity is not always automatically stronger, and the old three-selection weighting trigger is unverified. Read the current effects and requirements.

Learn how Mutagen choices work

Use Mutagen deliberately for rerolls or upgrades shown on the evolution screen. The old fixed ten-point upgrade threshold and universal early-reroll schedule are unverified; compare the current cost and benefit before spending.

Inspect points of interest while exploring

Watch for points of interest as well as enemies. Their rewards depend on the location and current game. The old seven-location Pioneer unlock, +50% appearance rate and guaranteed reward list are unverified; consult the Codex rather than treating them as a fixed route.

👹 Preparing for bosses

Choose terrain you can handle

Inspect obstacles and your terrain adaptation before a boss. The old claim that Crabtaur and Shellephant both take extra tree-collision damage, and that Grass is compulsory, is not verified. Official 1.2 notes say a stunned Shellephant keeps rolling at reduced speed.

Account for the day/night cycle

The game has a day/night cycle. Review visibility and mobility before an encounter; do not assume that a boss can always be postponed until daylight. The old compulsory light-evolution preparation and fixed night aggression rules are not fully verified.

Review your evolutions before a boss

Check whether your damage and survival can handle the encounter. The old minimums of five or six evolutions for the first boss and eight to ten later are unchecked recommendations, not verified entry requirements. Improve the weakness you can actually identify.

💡 Survival and terrain

Check movement for low-visibility situations

Movement can help you leave an unsafe fight, but the best choice depends on the current effects. The old Water Dash and Lightning movement labels are unverified Affinity descriptions and must not be treated as official routes.

Prepare for Snow and Water terrain

The four biomes have different conditions, animals and adaptation needs. Their order is not established here as a fixed Grass→Sand→Snow→Water sequence. Inspect the current terrain effects before entering rather than assuming one compulsory movement evolution.

❓ FAQ
How long does Everything is Crab take?

A standard run is roughly 20 minutes. The old two-to-three-hour first-Win and 50–100-hour all-achievements estimates were not measured; Win actually requires ten Pressure or Challenge wins in the saved Steam list. Pressure 20 and Extinction 5 offer later goals.

Does the game support Japanese?

Yes. The Steam store lists Japanese interface support among 14 languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, both Chinese variants and Korean. This is a language-support statement, not a claim of full spoken audio in every language.

Can I play on PS5 or Switch?

The checked Steam store lists Windows 10 requirements, and official notes refer to Steam and Epic builds. A current console release has not been verified here. The old ¥1,200/¥1,080 launch-price statement was a historical offer ending May 22, 2026; check the store for today’s price.

How does it differ from Brotato or Vampire Survivors?

Evolution changes your creature’s body and abilities, while four biomes and a day/night cycle add exploration. Charm also supports an ally-focused direction. The old 12-ally cap is unverified; shared run or progression concepts do not make this a direct entry in either series.

Which build should a beginner try?

A health-focused Imposing concept is one approachable option. Inspect Max HP, Plating, Shell, Revenge and More Mass individually. The old fixed order and guaranteed clear through Pressure 5 are unverified; adapt to the actual choices and attacks.

What is carcinisation?

In biology, it is convergent evolution in which non-crab crustaceans independently acquire a crab-like form. The game uses it as a special evolution theme. Its old seven-level cap and +10%/+8% per-level values are unchecked; the saved The Crabtain goal is Carcinisation 10, and enemy damage must not be misread as player damage.

How long is one run?

A standard run is roughly 20 minutes, with ordinary animals, Alphas and bosses to handle. The old fixed four-boss sequence is not fully verified for every mode; Endless has a different structure.

Are bosses fixed or different each run?

The old guide describes a random pool of Crabtaur, Aquaconda, Clawdia, Shellephant and Krabaroo followed by Krabken as a fixed fourth boss. That exact order and fixed count have not been independently verified. The store describes varied boss encounters, and the saved Steam list separately refers to a Final Boss.

How many evolutions can be equipped?

The historical guide lists two Attack slots and one Ultimate slot, with Passive and movement choices handled separately. These limits have not been freshly checked against the current game. The store advertises 125+ evolution-based abilities, which is not the same as a count of simultaneously equipped slots.

Does the game support Japanese?

Yes. The Steam store lists Japanese interface support among 14 languages, and gives May 8, 2026 as the release date.

What changed in the historical 1.1 update?

Official 1.1 notes dated June 25, 2026 added Tracker, a three-level Passive evolution, and Lick Wounds, a five-level Ultimate. Several evolution unlocks moved from Challenges to first Pressure clears, while Pollinator changed to 25 points of interest. The patch added eight cosmetics, Splicing 2.0, input rebinding, accessibility settings and a Twitch extension for voting on evolutions, Specialisations and points of interest. It also reworked Grandiose into the Ambivalent Genetic. The old claim of eight additional new evolutions was incorrect. Version 1.1 is historical; official 1.2 and 1.2.1 updates have since been released, and their full mechanics are not covered here.
