📋 Walkthrough
A staged guide from The Marrows through the regions and endings, including day/night planning, panic, aberrations and avoiding Leviathan.
A storm wrecks the fisherman’s boat, bringing him to The Marrows. The Mayor provides a boat on credit, and fishing begins.
Hallucinations begin appearing at sea, and the residents seem strange. The panic system becomes an active part of nighttime travel.
Travel through Gale Cliffs, Stellar Basin, Twisted Strand and Devil’s Spine. Their Pursuits hint at deep-sea secrets as you collect the five relics.
The Collector on Blackstone Isle asks for relics. Returning them unlocks abilities such as Haste, Manifest, Banish and Atrophy.
Collect the key, music box, ring, necklace and pocket watch to prepare for the ending.
Give the relics to the Collector for the standard ending, or follow the Old Mayor and Lighthouse Keeper events and throw back the Book of the Deep for the secret ending. The final choice determines the outcome.
- 1 Take early requests around The Marrows
The story begins in The Marrows. Catch requested fish, earn money and sell at the dock. Learn the basic loop: fish and sell during the day, then spend the night safely.
- 2 Prepare lights for nighttime panic
Night travel and narrow waterways can raise panic, bringing hallucinations and hull danger. Equip lights, improving from Cracked Bulb toward Halogen Spotlight, to limit panic buildup. Favor docked nights and short necessary trips with the light switched on.
- 3 Upgrade rods and cargo
Buy suitable rods, such as Hydraulic Rod, through the equipment shop and expand the hull at the Dry Dock. This opens Oceanic fishing and more cargo grid space. Swap equipment to carry both tools and catches efficiently.
- 4 Keep the Marrows shrine and first relic in mind
The Marrows Rock Slab shrine rewards an offering of five Cod. Regional Pursuits lead toward the five relics, and returning relics to the Collector unlocks abilities.
- 1 Upgrade engines to travel farther
An engine such as Improved Outboard shortens travel and return trips when panic rises. Branch out to Gale Cliffs in the southeast and Stellar Basin in the southwest.
- 2 Acquire rods for deeper water
Versatile Rod broadens coverage, while Fathomless Winch covers Abyssal and Hadal catches. Deep-water species open more fishing options; Stellar Basin has a varied local fish population.
- 3 Earn money from aberrations
Aberrations generally sell for more than regular fish. Use green shimmering disturbed water and the base fish’s time and method. Universal night, depleted-stock and reinforced-pot bonuses are unverified.
- 4 Progress regional Pursuits
Regional Pursuits provide relics and special equipment. Stellar Basin’s Rock Slab shrine also rewards a special rod for deep-water fishing.
- 1 Avoid Mind Suckers in Twisted Strand
Mind Suckers in the mangroves detect movement. Stop when detected and let the threat pass. Progress “The Bitter End” to deal with them through the related traps and mortar objectives.
- 2 Explore volcanic Devil’s Spine
Devil’s Spine has many dangerous threats. Improve hull and lights before exploring; deep-water fish such as Coelacanth can be found in the region.
- 3 Watch for Leviathan
Leviathan can threaten the map edge or open water, including at high panic. Turn toward shallow water immediately after its fin warning. Banish does not stop it; Manifest offers an emergency return instead of relying on speed.
- 4 Collect all five relics
Progress the regions’ Pursuits to collect the key, music box, ring, necklace and pocket watch. Returning relics unlocks abilities such as Haste, Manifest, Banish and Atrophy.
- 1 Give the Collector the five relics (standard ending)
Handing the five relics to the Collector leads to the standard ending. Preserve a save before the final choice if you want to revisit both endings.
- 2 Follow the secret-ending events (Old Mayor → Lighthouse Keeper)
Meet the Old Mayor near P-10 in the southern part of the map, then speak to the Lighthouse Keeper at Greater Marrow. Their account suggests that the Collector is the fisherman’s own reflection.
- 3 Throw back the Book of the Deep (secret ending)
At G-8, choose “Throw it back” to cast the Collector’s book into the sea. The final presentation is left undisclosed.
Sailing in darkness can raise panic and expose the boat to hallucinations and damage. Buy and improve lights early; better lighting makes later nighttime trips easier to manage.
Dock and rest until dawn when panic rises. Returning and resting is safer than pushing onward. An exact “wait until dawn” command label has not been verified; use the rest controls available on your platform.
Mild panic may bring faint lights or shadows. As it increases, disturbances become more frequent and harder to distinguish from real obstacles. Severe hallucinations are a reason to retreat before grounding or damage.
Identify actual docks and resting points before long trips. A dock or fixed panic reduction at every lighthouse is unverified. Confirm that you can dock before relying on an emergency stop.
Scout fishing spots by day, then make a short night trip. Check species-specific times and methods in the fish guide. Fixed eel, lobster and catfish prices are unverified and should not be budgeted as guaranteed income.
