Brotato Tips: Fix Your Shopping by Identifying What Went Wrong
Turn material shortages, crowds, elites, repeated hits, failed healing and a slowdown after combining into checks you can make and changes to your next purchases.
Turn a failed run into a better purchase
Review the shop before the wave in which you died. The stats you can use to fix the same problem differ by character, so check character restrictions first.
| Problem | Check | What to change |
|---|---|---|
| Too few materials early on | Kill speed and collection | Add main weapons. If you are running away and cannot collect materials, buy immediate damage rather than Luck. More detail |
| Surrounded by crowds | Area attacks, piercing and knockback | Add crowd clearing while keeping your weapons’ scaling stats aligned. More detail |
| Cannot kill an elite | Single-target damage and time spent attacking | Compare damage with healing. Avoid attack indicators instead of insisting on a kill. More detail |
| Die after just a few hits | HP, Armor and consecutive hits | Use HP and defense together and keep an escape route. Do not assume Dodge will succeed. More detail |
| Life Steal is not healing you | Eligible attacks and hit frequency | Use another source of healing instead of expecting Life Steal from burning, explosions or structures. More detail |
| The upgrade you want never appears | Character restrictions and version | Check the options restricted since 1.1.15.2. Do not reroll while waiting for an option that has no effect. More detail |
| Clearing slows down after combining | Weapon count, classes and structures | One high-tier weapon differs from several lower-tier ones. Plan to fill any slot you open. More detail |
| Harvesting falls in Endless | Wave 21 onward | Check whether you are carrying a normal-run growth plan into Endless. More detail |
When six copies of one weapon do not fit
Gladiator favors different weapon types, Bull uses no weapons, Engineer needs the right turret roles, and Pacifist prioritizes survival. When switching characters, check the restriction tables before buying the build that worked last time.
Level-up values
Base increases at tiers I / II / III / IV. Character-specific stat modifiers apply, so check the actual increase on the selection screen. Be aware of restricted upgrade options too.
| Stat | Base increase |
|---|---|
| Max HP | 3 / 6 / 9 / 12 |
| HP Regeneration | 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 |
| Life Steal | 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 |
| Damage | 5 / 8 / 12 / 16% |
| Melee Damage | 2 / 4 / 6 / 8 |
| Ranged Damage | 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 |
| Elemental Damage | 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 |
| Attack Speed | 5 / 10 / 15 / 20% |
| Crit Chance | 3 / 5 / 7 / 9% |
| Engineering | 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 |
| Range | 15 / 30 / 45 / 60 |
| Armor | 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 |
| Dodge | 3 / 6 / 9 / 12% |
| Speed | 3 / 6 / 9 / 12% |
| Luck | 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 |
| Harvesting | 5 / 8 / 10 / 12 |
The usual guaranteed tiers are II at level 5; III at levels 10, 15 and 20; and IV every five levels from level 25 onward. Do not apply this unchanged to characters such as Baby, whose level-ups work differently.
