Brotato Update Notes: Version 1.1.15.4 and Older Guide Pitfalls
Before using an older guide, check Nightmare, new unlocks, weapon changes and character-specific restrictions on level-up options.
Four updates that affect guides
| Version | Change | What to adjust |
|---|---|---|
| 1.1.15 | Nightmare, Wounded and Rail Gun. Taser damage: 7 / 7 / 7 / 14. | Do not call Danger 5 the highest difficulty. Watch for older Taser values. |
| 1.1.15.1 | Shield Armor scaling restored to 100 / 125 / 150 / 200%. | Do not use the reduced values from immediately after 1.1.15. |
| 1.1.15.2 | Restricted level-up options for eight characters. | Stop rerolling for options that have no effect. Endless is an exception. |
| 1.1.15.3–4 | Fixes to stat displays, projectiles, Lootworm movement toward trees and other issues. | Do not treat old bugs as permanent mechanics. |
Restricted level-up options for eight characters in normal runs
| Character | Restricted options |
|---|---|
| Wounded | HP Regeneration, Life Steal, Max HP, Armor |
| Mage | Melee Damage, Ranged Damage |
| Chunky | Speed |
| Hunter | Harvesting |
| Cyborg | Melee Damage, Elemental Damage |
| Technomage | Melee Damage, Ranged Damage |
| Sailor | Harvesting |
| Golem | Life Steal, HP Regeneration |
These options may appear again in Endless after wave 20. This does not mean the character cannot have the stat or that every shop item with it has been removed.
The order of the new unlocks
- Work through ten Danger 5 wins with different characters and the other applicable conditions to reach Nightmare.
- Win on Nightmare with any character and map to unlock Wounded.
- Win with Wounded on any difficulty to unlock Rail Gun.
Wounded’s starting Tardigrade can negate one hit each wave. Keep time and space to move away from attack indicators; do not assume HP and defense will let you survive after the protection has been used.
The announcement checked for this guide scheduled Primal Dread for late 2026. Unreleased effects have not been added to existing builds.
