Brotato First-Run Guide: Matching Weapons and Using the Shop

Start with Well-Rounded and choose an available weapon whose attack pattern you can follow. SMG is a practical ranged example; Stick is a simple melee alternative. These are starting plans, not guaranteed shop sequences. Concentrating on one weapon makes it easier to see whether a purchase improves the attacks you actually use. Read that weapon's damage scaling before taking a damage upgrade: Ranged Damage does not automatically improve a melee weapon.

Give each purchase a job

At each shop, decide what stopped you in the previous wave. If enemies survived long enough to surround you, another compatible weapon or a relevant damage upgrade may help. If you killed them quickly but lost health while collecting materials, movement, durability or recovery may matter more. A higher-tier colour does not answer that question by itself.

Use the early weapon offers

For fresh, unlocked stock, the shops after wave 1 and wave 2 each reserve two weapon offers. Shops 3–5 reserve one or more weapon offers. From shop 6 onward, there is no general weapon guarantee. Use the early opportunities to fill the ordinary six weapon slots with equipment that benefits from the same upgrades.

Identical weapons are a convenient approach, rather than a requirement for every character. Weapons can share classes and their class bonuses. Character restrictions can also change the available slots or make diversity valuable; this guide's plan does not apply unchanged to those characters.

Lock, reroll, then combine deliberately

Use the lock beneath an offer to keep it through rerolls and the next wave. The displayed price also stays locked. This is useful when a matching weapon is slightly beyond your current budget. Locking several offers leaves fewer spaces for new offers, so release a lock when the purchase no longer solves a problem.

Rerolling refreshes the unlocked stock and costs materials. Repeated rerolls in the same shop become more expensive. Before rolling, leave a purchasing budget for a useful result; spending the whole budget searching leaves you unable to use the result. The game displays the next reroll price, so check it rather than following a fixed number of rolls.

Combining requires a matching pair: identical weapon name and tier. It produces one weapon a tier higher, stopping at tier IV. That also means two attacks become one equipped weapon. Early on, consider keeping the extra weapon until you can replace the slot opened by a combination. When all weapon slots are occupied, purchasing a matching copy can combine automatically: inspect the equipped weapons and shop offer before buying.

Spend for the next wave

For this ordinary Well-Rounded plan, carrying materials has no universal interest reward. Buy meaningful power rather than saving simply because another game rewards cash reserves. That does not justify buying every cheap item: its penalties may weaken the stat your weapons need.

Harvesting adds to the end-of-wave material and XP rewards. An early increase has more remaining waves in which to contribute, but economy is useful only while you can survive. Keep the weapon plan working before buying income that leaves the next wave dangerous. Characters and items with explicit material-based effects require a different saving decision.

Make one correction after each wave

If kills are slow, inspect weapon count, scaling and attack speed. If health disappears in a few contacts, consider Max HP, Armor and a usable recovery source. If drops are surrounded, create a safer route before collecting them. Do not force a purchase order when the shop offers different tools. The aim is to understand why the next wave should be safer, then check whether that change actually helped.

Questions and answers

Must I buy six identical weapons?

No. It is a straightforward learning plan for a compatible character. Shared scaling and the character's restrictions matter more than copying a six-item screenshot.

Should I combine every matching pair immediately?

No. Check the lost weapon slot and whether you can replace it. A higher tier alone does not guarantee better crowd control.
