The deckbuilding sequel: 5 characters, systems and beginner advice within the source EA snapshot, not a refreshed current-branch inventory.
▶ Start a guide
What is Slay the Spire 2?
The sequel rebuilt in Godot. The source's EA snapshot records 5 characters, over 575 cards, 278 relics, 63 potions and up to 4-player co-op. Ironclad, Silent and Defect return 250 years later alongside Necrobinder and Regent. EA began March 5, 2026, with recorded first-week sales of 3 million. These are historical figures, not a current October inventory.
👤 Beginner recommendation
Ironclad
High starting HP and post-combat relic healing give room to learn enemy actions.
🃏 Deckbuilding principle
Skipping cards is a valid default
Taking cards after every fight can dilute key draws. Skip cards unrelated to the plan.
✨ New-character essentials
Doom = threshold execution / Stars = persistent resource
Survive with Osty and build Doom, or save Regent's Stars for powerful plays.
Steam EA launch

Rebuilt in Godot

🗡️ 2 new characters
Necrobinder brings Osty, Doom and blood magic; Regent uses persistent Stars. The 3 returning characters are redesigned 250 years later.
👥 Up to 4-player co-op
Up to 4 players can attempt the Spire together online.
🌿 Alternate Acts
Act routes vary enemies and bosses, extending the original's variation. Availability depends on the EA branch.
🧪 New engine and systems
Rebuilt in Godot with redesigned Colorless cards and enemy actions. The source's unconfirmed Corrosion explanation is withheld.
| Type | Characters | Learning difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Returning | Ironclad (The Ironclad) | Easy |
| Returning | Silent (The Silent) | Moderate |
| Returning | Defect (The Defect) | Hard |
| New | Necrobinder (The Necrobinder) | Hard |
| New | Regent (The Regent) | Hard |
Doom
A threshold effect comparing Doom with current HP at the relevant turn end. Exceptional boss-phase and defense interactions need build-specific confirmation; do not assume every special mechanic is bypassed.
Osty
Necrobinder's giant skeletal hand absorbs attacks aimed at the player. Summon strengthens it, with defense behaving differently from ordinary Block.
Stars
Regent's second resource persists across turns. Powerful cards can require both Stars and Energy: balance generation and spending.
Corrosion
The source's previous maximum-HP-loss explanation is withheld pending independent verification. Follow the current card text rather than treating an unconfirmed description as a universal status effect.
Graveyard terminology
The source's equivalence between “Graveyard” and the Exhaust pile awaits independent confirmation. Follow installed-game pile names and exact retrieval conditions.
Alternate Acts
Different Act routes vary enemies and bosses. The source's Act 1 examples are Overgrowth and Underdocks; check availability in the selected EA branch.
4-player co-op
Online cooperation allows up to 4 players to climb together.
Skipping cards is a valid default
Taking every card reward dilutes important draws. Keep a focused deck and skip cards unrelated to its plan.
When unsure, try Ironclad
Focus on Ironclad if the early hours are difficult. Post-combat healing provides room to learn enemies.
Draw a route before moving
Use map drawing to plan Rest Sites and Elites, managing HP and upgrades before committing. Unplanned paths can miss recovery opportunities.
Relics shape deck direction
Relics affect draw, Energy and specific mechanics. After gaining one, reconsider card picks and removals to support it.
Learn new-character systems first
Learn Osty/Doom for Necrobinder and Star generation/saving for Regent. Establish reliable resources and thresholds before adding damage cards indiscriminately.
