DAVE THE DIVER

📋 Staged walkthrough

From the first Blue Hole dive to the Sea People Village, deeper areas and bosses. Balance diving, restaurant management and equipment improvements as you progress.

🌊
Chapter 1
Meeting the cast and opening Bancho Sushi
Key points: Harpoon GunDiving SuitAir Cylinder (iDiver upgrade)Maki (check the current recruitment request)
  1. 1
Dive into the Blue Hole and learn the controls

Cobra invites Dave to start a sushi business using the Blue Hole’s varied fish. Learn the harpoon and catching fish in the Shallows, 0–50 m, through the tutorial.

  2. 2
Collect shallow-water fish for evening service

Explore the shallows and bring back a variety of fish for the simple opening menu. Surface before oxygen runs out and avoid overloading enough to slow movement.

  3. 3
Open Bancho Sushi and learn service

Serve the day’s catch at night. Prompt delivery, drinks and wasabi management support followers and reputation. Learn the basic rhythm of diving by day and selling dishes at night.

  4. 4
Upgrade air and cargo through iDiver

Reinvest gold in diving gear through iDiver. Air Cylinder increases dive time and Cargo Box increases carrying capacity, improving the next trip. Maki can support Cooking after she joins. Her specific recruitment event or request requirements have not been cross-checked here; check the current request screen.

🍣
Chapter 2
Equipment upgrades and Medium Depths
Key points: Duff (weaponsmith)Guns (blueprint unlocks)Diving Suit upgradeCooksta Silver/Gold
  1. 1
Have Duff craft guns from blueprints

Duff joins through an early weaponsmith quest. Picking up matching guns from underwater weapon chests accumulates blueprints for crafting. The first gun improves options against tough fish and groups.

  2. 2
Improve the suit for Medium Depths, 50–130 m

Use iDiver to improve the suit before going deeper into the 50–130 m zone. Medium Depths include valuable large fish such as tuna and marlin, which can substantially increase income per dive.

  3. 3
    Increase Cooksta rank

Cooksta ranks such as Bronze, Silver and Gold expand restaurant activity. Check followers, researched recipes and Best Taste requirements, using Enhance to improve a dish for the taste threshold.

  4. 4
    Hire servers to support service

Recruit high-Serving staff such as Raptor through Yoshie to improve delivery. Maki can support Cooking while you strengthen service and stabilize the evening’s throughput.

Chapter 3
Sea People Village and supplementary ingredients
Key points: Sea People Village / beiFish FarmSeaweed, rice and vegetable farmsRecipe research
  1. 1
    Reach Sea People Village

The main story leads to Sea People Village. Earning trust opens Bei and items from vendors such as the village blacksmith that require it.

  2. 2
    Unlock the Fish Farm

Serving Otto Moray Eel Curry opens the Fish Farm. Roe from catches can support breeding and steady ingredients. Check each species’ compatibility; farming Mantis Shrimp or Clione is unverified.

  3. 3
    Grow rice, vegetables and seaweed

Otto’s rice/vegetable farms and the Sea People Village seaweed farm provide supplementary ingredients. Valuable recipes often need produce and seasonings, so keep the farms supplying your menu.

  4. 4
Research recipes to expand the menu

Spend Artisan’s Flame to research unlocked recipes before serving them. Successful night service earns more Flame. Prioritize high-price recipes, considering the ingredients you can supply.

Chapter 4
Depths, Glacial Area and bosses
Key points: Deeper-water suit upgradeRed Sniper RifleBug Net (small and rare creatures)Cooksta Platinum and above
  1. 1
Dive into the Blue Hole Depths, 130–250 m

Improve suit and oxygen for Blue Hole Depths at roughly 130–250 m. This is not the whole game’s maximum depth; later regions go farther. Check each creature’s conditions and reserve oxygen for the return.

  2. 2
    Defeat Giant Squid

Giant Squid is a boss, not a catch. Target the exposed eye and avoid ink knockback. Use arena oxygen and ammunition when needed. A fixed five-to-six-shot count and guaranteed Red Sniper Rifle access at this encounter are unverified.

  3. 3
Look for rare creatures in the Glacial Area and Hydrothermal Vents

Some rare creatures, including seadragons, appear randomly after mining specific deposits. Search around ruby deposits in the Hydrothermal Vents for Ruby Seadragon, and deposits in the Glacial Area for Weedy Seadragon.

  4. 4
    Work toward higher Cooksta ranks

Use valuable ingredients and dish enhancement to meet Best Taste requirements for Platinum and Diamond. Balance Cooking such as Yone, Serving such as El Niño, and procurement such as Davina.

🐠
Chapter 5
Later game and completion goals
Key points: EndingsCooksta DiamondEncyclopedia and recipe collection
  1. 1
    Finish the main story

Follow the story of the Sea People and humans to its ending. Restaurant management, diving and collection continue afterward, alongside additional and seasonal events.

  2. 2
    Reach Cooksta Diamond

Meet the follower, researched-recipe and Best Taste requirements for Diamond. Assign staff to useful roles and maintain ingredients through farms and the Fish Farm.

  3. 3
Work on fish and recipe collection

Check missing encyclopedia entries individually, including small creatures caught with Bug Net, and research recipes to expand the menu. The selected species on this site are not a complete collection checklist; unverified rare-species examples are not guaranteed spawns.

⚖️ Balancing diving and management
Opening: establish ingredient collection

Collect a useful variety of fish for the limited opening menu. Improve oxygen and cargo through iDiver to bring back more per dive. Menu variety alone does not certify a follower-growth bonus; service and Cooksta requirements still matter.

Midgame: invest in restaurant staff

Reinvest gold in recruitment and training. Cooking staff such as Maki or Yone and servers such as Raptor or El Niño help stabilize evening service. Cooksta progression expands restaurant activity.

Later: target valuable deeper-water ingredients

Once equipment and service are stable, explore later regions for ingredients suited to valuable dishes and improve Best Taste for higher Cooksta ranks. Giant Squid is an earlier boss, not a repeatable late-game ingredient source.

Maintain ingredients through farms

Keep the Fish Farm and rice, vegetable and seaweed farms supplying the menu. Valuable recipes need supplementary ingredients, so shortages can limit income even when fish are plentiful.

❓ Walkthrough FAQ
Q1. What should I prioritize at the start?
Learn the dive → restaurant loop: collect fish in the Blue Hole Shallows, 0–50 m, then serve them at Bancho Sushi at night. Improve Air Cylinder and Cargo Box early through iDiver to increase dive time and what you bring back. Maki is a Cooking staff member. Her specific recruitment event or request requirements have not been cross-checked here; check the current request screen.
Q2. How do I improve Cooksta rank?
Cooksta progresses Bronze → Silver → Gold → Platinum → Diamond. Requirements combine followers, researched recipes and Best Taste. Serve promptly, handle drinks and replenish wasabi to earn followers. Enhance a dish through up to 10 levels to meet Best Taste; it does not need to be served for that requirement.
Q3. When should I explore the Depths?
Once you can earn steadily around 50–130 m and have improved the suit and oxygen through iDiver. The Blue Hole Depths span roughly 130–250 m; later regions extend beyond this, so 250 m is not the game’s overall maximum. Prepare guns through Duff, oxygen and protection before going farther.
Q4. How do the Sea People and bosses fit into progression?
The main story leads to the Sea People Village. Gaining trust during Chapter 3 opens use of Bei, including village-only purchases. The village also adds seaweed farming. Giant Squid is an earlier boss: target its exposed eye rather than treating it as a catch; a fixed shot count depends on the weapon and was not verified.
