🌱 Balatro Seeds: Input, Reproduction Conditions and Disabled Unlocks
Six steps from checking a shared seed’s conditions to finishing practice. Do not count a manually seeded win toward achievements, the next Stake or Collection discoveries.
Uses the official 1.0.1f changes as its reference. Current versions on different platforms are not assumed identical; check the displayed version and in-game rules too.

Seeds and goals that do not count
A seed determines a run’s random generation. Entering one lets you try a shared run or practice decisions from the same starting conditions. However, the seed alone does not make every event identical. You also need the version, deck, Stake, profile unlock state and choice history.
Separate practice wins from wins that unlock progress
Normal achievement, unlock and discovery progress is disabled with a manually entered seed. Check the screen’s notice. Do not count meeting a condition in practice as unlocking the next Stake or earning a Gold Sticker.
| Goal | Seeded run | When pursuing the goal |
|---|---|---|
| Normal achievements, including Steam | Disabled with a manually entered seed | Meet achievement conditions in a normal run with no seed entered. |
| Deck unlocks | Do not advance with a manually entered seed | Read the Collection condition and meet it in a normal run. |
| Unlocking the next Stake | Do not advance with a manually entered seed | Win a normal run with the same deck on the preceding Stake. |
| Joker and other unlocks | Do not advance with a manually entered seed | Do not count a practice result as an unlock; check that you met the condition in a normal run. |
| New Collection discoveries | Not recorded with a manually entered seed | Distinguish unlocks from discoveries, and check the Collection in a normal run. |
| Joker win Stickers | Not earned with a manually entered seed | Collect Gold Stickers through wins with no seed entered. |
Six steps from input to the end of practice
- 1
Choose a decision to practice
Pick one decision to test, such as what to buy in a shop or which hand to upgrade. Keep achievement and unlock goals for normal runs.
- 2
Match the seed and reproduction conditions
Record the eight conditions below as well as the shared seed. If the version or deck is unknown, do not treat the route as reproduced and verified.
- 3
Enter the seed for a new run
Choose the deck and Stake, enable seed entry and enter the value. Check the notice that unlocks and discoveries are disabled before starting. Follow your platform’s screen instructions for the input location and character limits.
- 4
Compare the early results
Compare the opening Blinds, Tags and shops with the original record. If they differ, check the version, deck, Stake and profile unlocks before continuing.
- 5
Record choices and results while testing
Record skips, purchases, rerolls, Pack choices and consumable use in order. When testing another choice, mark the branch point; the seed alone does not guarantee the same outcome.
- 6
Pursue unlocks in normal runs
After practice, start a new normal run with no seed entered when pursuing achievements, discoveries or the next Stake. Check the input and run settings; do not count a practice result as an unlock.
Eight conditions for sharing a seed
Record the seed with these eight conditions. A different profile’s locked cards or Tags can affect availability. Do not combine records with different conditions into one route.
| Field to record | How to record it |
|---|---|
| Platform and edition | For example PC, Switch or mobile. Treat modded environments separately from the normal game. |
| Displayed version | Record every number and suffix. Do not guarantee the same result when using an old shared seed in a newer version. |
| Decks | Record the deck name. Do not mix another deck’s route with the same seed. |
| Stakes | Record the Stake from White through Gold. Do not assume difficulty changes during the run. |
| Profile unlock state | Whether the original profile has everything unlocked or still has locked entries. Locked entries can change which Tags or cards appear. |
| Blind skips | Record which Ante’s Small or Big Blind was skipped and which Tag was taken. |
| Purchases, sales and rerolls | Record purchases, sales, reroll counts and their order for each shop. |
| Pack and consumable choices | Record Packs opened, cards chosen and the order of consumable use. |
These fields support reproduction attempts. They do not guarantee identical results across platforms or that offers remain unchanged between versions.
Comparing choices, finding mismatches and version differences
Compare purchase decisions
With matching starting conditions, record your money, open slots and the next score target before buying. Try buying a Joker versus waiting for the next shop, then compare where score or money fell short. Keep the record after the changed purchase as a separate branch.
Review one failed decision at a time
Review when you committed to a hand, how often you discarded or why you kept a stickered Joker. Recording each change helps explain why the outcome improved.
Locate mismatches in shared records
If the first Tags or shops differ, check the version and profile unlocks first. If the difference appears later, compare skips, purchases, sales, rerolls and Pack choices in order. Do not insist the result must match while an unexamined difference remains.
Attach version notes to old shared seeds
Official patch 1.0.1f replaced Orange’s rising Pack costs with Perishable and Gold’s hand-size reduction with Rental, and adjusted score requirements. It also changed how the first Legendary Joker is chosen in random-seed Gold runs. Do not guarantee that old shop plans or win routes apply unchanged to your current version.
FAQ
Can I unlock achievements or the next Stake with a manually entered seed?
No. Entered-seed runs do not count toward normal achievements, unlocks or discoveries. Treat Joker win Stickers separately too. Match conditions to practice decisions, then meet unlock goals in a normal run without a seed.
Why do shops or Tags differ with the same seed?
Check conditions beyond the seed. The version, deck, Stake and profile unlocks can all affect the result. Match the starting conditions and the record of choices such as skips and purchases.
How do I return from seeded practice to a normal achievement run?
Disable seed entry in the settings for a new run, then check the input and run settings before starting. Check that the setting has not remained enabled even if you think you cleared the value. Do not assume the next run automatically becomes random.
Can I use a seed from an older guide unchanged?
Matching results are not guaranteed. Official patch 1.0.1f changed score requirements and the Orange and Gold Stake mechanics. Record the shared guide or video’s version and your displayed version, then compare early shops to check reproduction.
Does a seed called the strongest guarantee a win?
No. Starting conditions and decisions at each stage matter as well as the seed. Decide what you want to test, then record purchases, skips, card choices and results.
